Lanzarote is the fourth largest island of the Canary Islands. It is 58 km long and 34 km wide. Lanzarote has approximately 150,000 inhabitants, with nearly 60,000 living in the capital, Arrecife. Lanzarote is located just 12 km north of Fuerteventura. It is one of the most beautiful islands in the Canary Islands, thanks to César Manrique, whose influence can be seen everywhere on the island. He is responsible for ensuring that no hotel is taller than the island's palm trees, that Lanzarote has largely been spared from mass tourism, and that the houses are painted in brilliant white.

The port
In the harbor of Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote, there are two cruise ports. If only one ship is expected, it will most likely dock at the Muelle Cruceros La Boca De Puerto Naos. This port has a large parking area for buses and taxis, and it is 1.7 km to Arrecife.
A bit further away is the Muelle de los Marmoles, which was extended to 1 km in 2018, allowing multiple cruise ships to dock in succession. Here, there is a tourist information office, as well as car and bike rentals. It is approximately 3 km to Arrecife, which is why paid shuttle buses are usually offered from this location.
on foot
From the Muelle Cruceros, you can comfortably walk 1.7 km to Arrecife. By passing through the marina, you'll reach the pedestrian zone of Arrecife. Small shops and restaurants make the journey quite enjoyable.
From the Muelle de los Marmoles, it's significantly farther to the city at 3 km. You go up the pier and take the first left at the roundabout onto Avenida de los Marmoles. From there, a small path leads you past a small beach into the city. The route is easy to find with Google Maps.
shuttlebusses
At both docking locations, the shipping companies offer paid shuttle buses. From the Muelle de los Marmoles, the shuttle costs approximately €9 for a day ticket, while from the Muelle Cruceros, the ticket costs about €7. In both cases, the stop in Arrecife is a parking area near the inland harbor Charco de San Gines.
rental cars
At the port of Los Marmoles, several car rental companies have their offices. The most well-known are Cicar and Cabrera Medina. We have always had very good experiences with Cicar during all our vacations in the Canary Islands.
public transport
In Lanzarote, there is a well-developed bus network. However, the bus station is quite far from the ports. On the website Arrecifebus, you can also access the timetables in German.
Taxi
At both cruise ports, taxis are available that also offer excursions on the island. On the Taxi Arrecife website, you can view possible excursions and their prices in english.
Fahrräder
If you're into sports, Baja Bikes is the place for you. Here, you can book guided city tours with local guides, most of whom speak German.
Hop on Hop off
In Arrecife, there is a red sightseeing train that operates on two routes through the city. Adults pay €12, while children up to 12 years old can ride for €6. Both tours last about 45 minutes, and passengers can get on and off at any stop. Unfortunately, the trains only run once an hour.
Top attractions
Lanzarote is a very popular travel destination. Not only do cruise ships dock here, but there are also many tourists who love the mild climate of the Canary Islands. As a result, there can be long queues at the top attractions, or tickets may only be available with fixed time slots. For these attractions, it is worth booking a ticket with fast track entry or a specific time slot:
