Lissabon

Lisbon is one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in Europe. The capital of Portugal, with its 600,000 inhabitants, may be relatively small, but it offers more than can be explored in a single day. Here, tradition and modernity blend together in a truly impressive way. With 290 sunny days a year, Lisbon provides its visitors with a mild and pleasant climate throughout the year. It's the perfect combination for an interesting city trip.
The port
In Lisbon, the entrance to the harbor is already a major highlight that you shouldn't miss. From the Atlantic, you'll be entering the vast estuary of the Tagus River. The best way to enjoy this experience is from an upper deck, especially if you don't have a balcony cabin. On the left side, you'll see the Torre de Belém and the Padrão dos Descobrimentos. On the right side, the 110-meter-high Christ statue appears before the ship slowly passes under the Ponte 25 de Abril.
In Lisbon, the ships are mostly located directly in the city in the old district of Alfama. There are two cruise terminals with space for a total of four ships. The new Jardim do Tobaco terminal, which opened in 2017, is very centrally located, while the traditional Santa Apolonia terminal is just a few hundred meters away. A third terminal is the Alcântara terminal, which is situated 4 km west of the historic center, near the Ponte 25 de Abril. You can check exactly where your ship is located on the port's website.
on foot
Since the ships are located very centrally, the city is easily accessible on foot. However, Lisbon is quite hilly, and some inclines need to be overcome. If your ship is at the Alcântara Terminal, it is about four kilometers to the old town. If that feels too far, you can use the buses or the tram. There are good connections to the city from the Calais da Rocha stop.
on foot with audioguide

AOYO offers you the opportunity to explore Lisbon at your own pace, without having to miss out on the valuable knowledge of experienced tour guides. During your city tour with an audio guide, you will visit 29 stations. The tour starts and ends at the cruise terminal.
All you need to do is download the AOYO app on your phone and use the download code after purchasing the audio guide. After that, you can use the guide offline and without limits.
public transport
Public transportation in Lisbon is very well developed. In addition to the metro, there are buses and trams. If you want to explore Lisbon on your own, it's advisable to get a day pass, which includes all modes of transport. The day pass currently costs €6.40.
The metro
The metro is a great mode of transportation for anyone looking to explore Lisbon on their own. There are access points to the metro at both cruise terminals. These are the Santa Apolonia and Terreiro de Paço stations, where you can also purchase tickets.

Tram
The 28E line is very interesting for shore excursion visitors, as it covers many of Lisbon's attractions. To secure a seat, it's advisable to board at one of the terminal stops, which are Maritim Moniz and Campo Ourique. Since no one is allowed to stay seated here, the chances of getting a seat are very high. A round trip on the tram takes about 55 minutes.
With tram number 15, you can comfortably reach Belém; you can board at the Praça do Comércio stop.
Tuk Tuk
For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, Tuk Tuks are waiting in front of the terminals, offering city tours. The vehicles have either four or seven seats, making them ideal for small groups. The tours last between one and four hours. The rate per hour ranges from €50 to €75.
Taxen
At the terminals, there are plenty of taxis available, and the fare is calculated by the meter. Since there have been instances of fraud, you should insist on the use of the meter.
Bikes
If you're into sports, Baja Bikes is the perfect choice for you. Here, you can book guided city tours with local guides, who are mostly German-speaking.
Hop on hop off
Of course, there are the famous hop-on hop-off buses in Lisbon as well. You can purchase tickets in advance online through Get Your Guide. There is also a combo ticket available for all bus lines and boats.
Lisboa Card
The Lisboa Card is the official sightseeing pass from the tourist information center. With it, you can use public transportation freely and enjoy discounted entry prices at many attractions. The pass costs €20 per day.
